Another in a not-so-regular series of posts highlighting nature's nature & 'ain't that odd'
Stuff Enough Already!
It has been a conspiracy all along to get us to buy stuff. Marketeers and companies have been dictating style, fashion and getting you to believe you can only feel good by buying and shoppoing for more and more stuff!
An interesting quote by a Victor Lebeau ?? around 1950s
“Our enormously productive economy…..demands that we make consumption our way of life, that we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals, that we seek our spiritual satisfaction, our ego satisfaction, in consumption…. We need things consumed, burned up, replaced and discarded at an ever-accelerating rate”
Have they won? Are you really that uncomfortable with yourself, with nature that you need to buy and surround yourself with stuff. Are you loved more when you get stuff? Do you love them more when you give stuff? Sad if it is true.
Check out the story of Christmas and the story of stuff (a great video)
