Being Green Has No Significant Relevence To The Planet -- Only To Our Human Self Centeredness

Another in a not-so-regular series of posts highlighting nature's nature & 'ain't that odd'
Nature, green, sustainability, recycle, and tread lightly is less about the health of Mother Earth, but mostly about ourselves. I still advocate making less of 'us' and the carbon foot print issues are less critical. If there is too much of any thing on the planet it will always throw things off balance -- be it water, oygen, carbon, methane or ants! There are just too damn many of us; our carbon foot print is very small and actually insignificant, except to us. It is just that there are way to many little tiny carbon feetsies! It is all about us, us, us and consume, consume, consume!

The following is an interesting quote passed onto me by my friend Don. Although first presented in 2002 and it is 6 years old, the quote sums up the situation nicely, don't you think?

August 26, 2002 -- Hermann Scheer, Time Magazine
“The globe doesn’t need to be saved by us, and we couldn’t kill it if we tried. What we do need to save – and what we have done a fair job of bollixing up so far – is the earth as we like it, with its climate, air, water and biomass all in that destructible balance that best supports life as we have come to know it. Muck that up, and the planet will simply shake us off, as it’s shaken off countless species before us. In the end, then it’s us we’re trying to save – and while the job is doable, it won’t be easy.”

Are we worth saving at the expense of Earth?

Good Night From Maine, USA!
