Another in a not-so-regular series of posts highlighting nature's nature & 'ain't that odd'
Was there a summer in the Northeast this year? 2009 - the summer that wasn't.
There is so much psycho emotional and pushing-shoving discussions about global warming. In a scientific factual view global weather - hot, cold, stormy and with/without oxygen is all very natural. And, we humans came about as a result of many more and much more severe warming, freezing and thawing. Like I said before, the planet has had weather very conducive to humans and it has been a very short period.
Factually speaking, I believe from a species and scientific basis clean potable fresh water for human consumption is a far more threatening and serious issue to our survival -- which all this is really about. The emotional levels global warming has reached is simply an indication to me how people are mainly concerned about there our personal survival. It is certainly not about environmental facts nor the absolute health of the planet. The planet is very healthy, will continue to evolve with all its "drama" (from only a human perspective!) and thrive. It just does not mean it will continue to be conducive to human survival. That is the core of the issue.
In my opinion, of course.
